SGC 523 - Counseling Skills

Credits: 3

Candidates will develop an understanding of essential interviewing and counseling techniques that foster therapeutic relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries. They will learn how to establish appropriate counseling goals, design intervention strategies, evaluate client outcomes, and successfully terminate the counselor-client relationship. They will practice individual counseling and classroom guidance approaches that promote school success through academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.
