Criminology emerged from the field of Sociology, utilizing sociological concepts to inform explanations of crime and society’s response to it. The criminology program provides students with the opportunity to study criminal behavior and learn the theoretical concepts which guide practical solutions to issues. The program focuses on issues associated with the complexities of relationships among social, historical, political and psychological influences that affect interactions with the Criminal Justice System.
