Addiction Recovery

An 18-hour, undergraduate certification program in addiction recovery integrates foundational and advanced courses to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for effective addiction support, counseling and intervention. The program will empower students to address the complex challenges inherent in supporting individuals and communities affected by addiction.

Mission Statement

To develop compassionate addiction specialists and recovery coaches who are dedicated to promoting healing, resilience, and equity in the face of addiction’s pervasive impact on individuals and society.

Program Objectives

1. Develop an understanding of addiction dynamics: Enable students to analyze the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors contributing to addiction, fostering an understanding of addiction as a multifaceted phenomenon.

2. Apply evidence-based interventions in addiction recovery settings: Equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement evidence-based practices and techniques in addiction counseling and intervention.

3. Foster cultural competence in addiction response: Cultivate students’ awareness of cultural diversity, social inequalities, and ethical considerations inherent in addiction recovery.
