The minor in French aims to develop students’ proficiency in the French language and introduce them to different aspects of French and Francophone cultures. Students who choose to minor in French are expected to achieve intermediate proficiency in oral and written French, to demonstrate a general understanding of the history of French and Francophone literatures and cultures, and to develop an awareness of the ways that French and Francophone studies intersect with other disciplines.
As such, a minor in French will complement the coursework and professional development of students majoring in business, film, music, theatre, and international relations, among other fields. Independently of their field of study, a French minor will add an international dimension to CU students’ education, providing them with a unique skill set to distinguish themselves on the job market.
