SPA 370 - Hispanic Cinema and Cultures
Credits: 3
A survey of Hispanic films from the 1950’s to nowadays. This third year level course, taught completely in Spanish has been designed to introduce students to the cinematic work of a number of Hispanic film artists, and to develop a more detailed and creative reception of each film. The course requires students to have high intermediate to advance Spanish skill levels. While the students will not be able to spend time in a Spanish-speaking country this semester, they can travel through the eyes of filmmakers to many parts of the Hispanic world. This highly motivating context will work well for students, especially to improve their listening comprehension and conversations skills, as well as, their understanding of a different culture and to develop their critical thinking.
Prerequisites: SPA 310 , SPA 315 , SPA 320 or professor approval.
