SOC 435 - Sociology of Violence Credits: 3
This course provides a survey of major sociological theories and research on violence, with emphasis on the contemporary United States. It examines the different “types” of violence, the social context in which they occur, and the theoretical perspectives that help explain violent phenomena, as well as discussing possible solutions and policies to address violence.
Prerequisites:
| Complete one of the following categories: 1) Two 200-level SOC courses; 2) One 200-level and One 300-level SOC course; 3) Two 300-level SOC courses |
