HST 488 - Gender and History: A Global Perspective

Gender and History:  A Global Perspective investigates precisely what it meant to be a man or woman throughout history; how these roles were shaped by various institutions; and how they in turn were influenced by gender.  Beginning with the first civilizations and through the modern era, this course will explore how the ideas of gender changed over time, geographic space, and as cultural systems and civilizations developed, intersected, and became more global.
