POL 355 - Human Rights, Gender, and Race


Credits: 3

This course covers the main debates and issues in contemporary human rights, including the theory, history, and practice of human rights, with a focus on human rights as they relate to gender and race. The first half of the course introduces the concept of universal human rights, while the second half of the course examines the specific topics of gender and race. The course also incorporates service learning opportunities so as to connect the course discussions and readings about human rights to real-world practice.
