Composed of eighteen graduate credit hours, the Certificate Program in English Graduate Studies is a fully online program with courses that may also be offered in a face-to-face setting. The program is mostly asynchronous although some of its courses involve sychronous components. By taking two courses, six hours, each summer, fall, and spring semester, students can complete the program in one year, or they can complete the program in three summers.
Requirements for Admission into the Program:
- Writing sample: Applicants must submit a critical, analytic, argumentative research essay of at least ten pages, preferably on a literary topic.
- Minimum undergraduate GPA: Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0, or they must submit a GRE score.
- Statement of Purpose: Applicants must complete a statement of purpose regarding their enrollment in the certificate program.
- Letters of recommendation: Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation.
- Transcripts: Applicants must submit undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate transcripts.
Program Requirements
All courses must be available online. Some classes will be offered as hybrid or in-seat courses.
Students in the certificate program must complete eighteen hours in English.
