ENG 626 - Post-Colonial Literature

Studies in literature from former colonized nations and from other countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The course focuses on literatures in English but may include some translations. The course examines the literary response to the imperial past in diverse cultures, as well as other historical and cultural contexts. Particular attention will be given to the development of cultural identity in relation to foreign others and to new developments in globalism with related concerns about cultural imperialism.
