CS 628 - Web 2.0 and Beyond

As Moore’s Law continues to confirm the rapid growth of technology, the understanding of many of the newer concepts alludes “managers in key positions” to take advantage of them. Conversely, some managers run headlong down the road of “Must Have the Latest” only to find little, if any, return on investment. This course will focus on the nuances of new web-based technologies and the potential advantages and disadvantages many of them offer. Topics will include Web 2.0 (aka the Social Web), Web 3.0, Cloud Computing, Security, National and International Compliance, and the next network evolution that may replace the internet. Research studies and discussion forums will be paramount to sharing an understanding of current issues and technologies used to (sometimes) solve many of today’s business problems.
