SWK 640 - Forensic Social Work

This course provides an introduction into forensic social work providing an overview of the basic skills necessary for this specific area of social work practice with an emphasis on empowerment, human rights and social justice. Using a forensic lens this course will explore the various practice fields of forensic social work while highlighting a strengths/empowerment model as the foundation for intervention. Students will have the opportunity to gain skills in exploring, assessment and evaluation throughout the course through a variety of assignments and tools.
