MTH 202 - Mathematics for Elementary Teachers

Credits: 3

This course is designed to improve preservice elementary teachers’ knowledge of the mathematics relevant to elementary and middle school education. In addition, this course will actively involve preservice teachers in their own learning, with the intention of creating a greater understanding of the nature of mathematics. This course is required for elementary/middle school education majors. Topics will include algebra, functions, probability and statistics, geometry, congruence and similarity, area, volume, and transformations.  A grade of “C” or better is required in order for the student to receive credit for the course. 
Prerequisites: MTH 111 and MTH 201 with a “C” or better.
Note. This course will not count toward a mathematics major.
